Description

Join us for lunch on Monday, July 27 from 12noon-2pm during the SCACA Coaches Clinic for this innovative Coaching Boys Into Men training for high school athletic coaches and athletic directors in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Coaching Boys Into Men (www.coachescorner.org) is a coaches leadership program that partners with athletic coaches to help young male athletes practice respect towards themselves and others. Athletic coaches play an extremely influential and unique role in the lives of young men, often serving as a mentor to the boys they coach. Because of these special relationships, coaches are poised to positively influence how young men think and behave both on, and off, the field. From speeches to the team, practice sessions, or simply casual conversation, coaches have many opportunities to impart their philosophies upon their athletes. Coaching Boys into Men (CBIM) equips coaches to talk with their athletes about respect for women and girls and that violence doesn't equal strength. Through CBIM, athletes learn skills to avoid violence and abuse in their relationships.

This event is free of charge, but attendees are required to RSVP by Wednesday, July 22. Each attendee will receive a boxed lunch, training and discussion faciliated by CBIM expert trainer and coach, Jerry McMeekin, a CBIM Coaches Kit for implementing this program with your team and connection to Safe Harbor and ManUPstate (www.manupstate.org) for further resources and assistance.

Boxed lunch will include a Smoked Turkey/Bacon/Pimento Cheese Wrap, a side salad, chips, cookie and a bottled soda or water. If you have any special dietary restrictions, please let us know by July 22 - contact julie.meredith@safeharborsc.org.
